  • Every expansion continues one serialized story with extensive cutscenes, characters and musical themes, giving progression the structure of a long Final Fantasy campaign. Trust and Duty Support systems make major dungeons approachable solo.
  • Changing the equipped weapon changes jobs, so one character can tank, heal, deal damage, gather and craft without repeating the story. Shared inventories and unlocks make experimentation unusually convenient.
  • Normal duties are highly accessible, while Extreme trials, Savage raids and Ultimate encounters offer increasingly precise coordination. Crafting, gathering, housing, glamour, music and roleplay support substantial noncombat communities.

Things to consider

  • The Main Scenario is mandatory for unlocking most zones and systems, and hundreds of hours of dialogue separate a new account from current content. Story skippers sacrifice context and still must learn high-level combat.
  • After buying the game, continued access requires a subscription, and expansion ownership is separate. The generous free trial reaches level 80 but restricts trading, private communication, party creation and other social functions.
  • Global cooldown combat begins slowly and many early quests are mechanically simple. Housing plots remain scarce on populated worlds, while account, platform and region registration mistakes can be difficult to reverse.
