The Odyssey Online Classic is a free, open-source, top-down 2D MMORPG originally written in Visual Basic 6 by Justin Schumacher ("Bugaboo") and running continuously since 1997, making it one of the earliest MMORPGs built on VB6. It offers sandbox-style quests, PvP, exploration and crafting in a fixed medieval fantasy world, hosted on a dedicated server cluster with community-run backup infrastructure. A modernized fan remake, Odyssey Modern, entered Steam Early Access separately in 2022.
