Browser action RPG

Gunshine.net

Gunshine.net was Supercell's free-to-play, browser-based social action RPG set on Dawnbreak City, an island run by the evil Labycore mega-corporation. Playable on Facebook or standalone in-browser, players chose from three classes (tank, damage dealer, healer), teamed up with friends (or AI-controlled offline friends) for real-time cooperative missions, boss fights and crafting, and could later fight through the Zombies Online expansion. The game was shut down in November 2012.

Why you might like it

  • Real-time cooperative shooter-RPG combat stood out from the point-and-click norm of most Facebook-era browser MMOs.
  • AI could emulate offline friends' characters, letting solo players still experience co-op-style missions.
  • A distinctive gang-and-corporation urban setting broke from the fantasy themes common in the genre.
Before you play

Things to consider

  • Gunshine.net was permanently shut down in November 2012 and is no longer playable.
  • As a Facebook-era Flash browser game, it would not have survived Flash's later 2020 retirement even if it had stayed open.
  • Its three-class system was relatively simple compared to more class-diverse MMORPGs of the same period.
